When I first started lifting it never occurred to me that I might be disadvantaged by being trans and I'm yet to find any reason to think I am disadvantaged. I started this website when one day I got wondering about other trans people involved in strength sports and found almost nothing. I don't claim to know it all but I do have an informed option. . My goal here is to encourage discussion and put a bit of info out there.
I'm a genderqueerish trans guy living in the UK. I love strongman and powerlifting and I don't at all mind weightlifting. I've competed in a strongman competition and I'm preparing for my second however I'm quite short and have a lower back problem so I have accept my strongman career is limited. My focus is moving more to compete bench only in powerlifting and to train strength for the benefit of my Taekwon-do training. I'm hoping to go down to 67kg and qualify for the British drug free bench nationals later in the year, we'll see how competition times line up.
If you are a trans person who'd like a bit of advice then feel free to get in touch. I am happy to answer question though if you ask me to write you a training programme I will just tell you where to find good ones because I don't have the time to offer that,
For representatives of sports bodies (or other organisations interested in trans people in sport), I am happy to discuss how I can help. I have experience in writing policies on trans competitors and supporting their implementation. My professional background is in charity fundraising/business development, volunteer management and youth work. In a voluntary capacity I have worked on a lot of different trans related projects.
